![]() ![]() All I'm hoping is that the sounds are at least as good as Garritan Personal Orchestra, and hopefully at least some of them better. That said, I also think the OP is better going for something like VSCO2 samples that can run in Kontakt Player and sound far more impressive to my ears. And that's before we get to the samplerate and bit depth (which I assume is still 16-bit). For a start, the number of instruments is vastly reduced, they only include samples for every whole step, the articulations are few and far between compared to even the basic packages available for purchase. Just to be clear that the samples included with Kontakt are not the full VSL by any stretch of the imagination. Here's the list I snagged from a terminal window. I think it was worth it just for the strings, brass, and woodwinds, but there are also a lot of other very useful sounds in the "Factory Library". ![]() As it turned out, I was able to crossgrade on a Black Friday sale and get a similar price. I had previously bought "Kontakt Elements" which was a very stripped down version of Kontakt that had only a couple instruments from that library. I bought Kontak 5 specifically to get the full VSL samples. I see they have a symphonic percussion library so that looks covered. ![]() So, does anyone know what kind of orchestral instruments you get with full kontakt? I mean woodwinds and brass primarily. East West uses iLok, Vienna uses eLicenser. I haven't even tried getting my Vienna libraries going. My attempts to get East West libraries working on Linux have not been successful (close bit no cigar). I have the Kontakt PLayer working on Reaper For Linux, and use it with Garritan Personal Orchestra and Cinematic Strings. I see that the full version of Kontakt 6 is half-price at 200.00. ![]()
